Permit are back on the wrecks in Marathon Florida

April 28, 2012-

A group of friends got together for a great day out on the water with Captain Jim on Angler Management Charters recently. Half of the group was down visiting from Spartenburg, SC and the rest were newly local from Marathon Florida. They were able to land a great catch for dinner of Snappers and then 2 nice sized Permit as well. The group had a great time landing some of the biggest ever for a couple of anglers on the boat & had a relaxing time out there on the water.

Saturday April 28, 2012-

This week was an incredible week in Marathon Florida for those interested in catching Sailfish. The gulf stream was tucked close in towards the lighthouse in Marathon and allowed for some awesome sight fishing for Sailfish. The wind and rain prevented many from being able to get out there, however Jim was able to show Bill from Delaware to his first Sailfish ever. Bill said that he had caught Blue & White Marlin bill fish in the past, but the sailfish had eluded him. After Bill landed the sail, he told Captain Jim, he'd rather go for Sails as they were much more lively and fun to land.

February 28, 2012-

Just for fun while we were catching up the Mangrove Snapper, Mackerel & Florida Pompano we put down a little shark bait for some added action and it worked like a charm. After fighting a 9 foot Lemon Shark for 45 mins getting him to the boat, everyone agreed that one big guy was enough to end the day! But we did manage a few nice photos of the action....

March 1, 2012-

Jamel and Wendy were eating good after a charter with Captain Jim Griffith on Angler Management Charters yesterday. They were able to fish for the first time in the Florida Keys, catching their biggest fish ever on an afternoon trip with Jim. The couple is from North Carolina, and caught several Florida Pompano, Cero Mackerel, tons of Mangrove Snapper and a 9 foot Lemon Shark that put up quite a fight for Jamel. Captain Jim is putting some of their catch on the smoker for some smoked fish for them to enjoy later....

February 28, 2012-

This week was excellent fishing forFlorida Pompano & Mackerelout in the Florida bay. We were able to catch 3 limits of Florida Pompano all in the 3 to 6 pound range, which made for some awesome tender white & mild fillets for dinner! We also filled the fish box with Mackerel for the smoker. Captain Jim has been brining & smoking fish 3-4 days a week lately, shipping the fish to friends and customers.

Scott Phipps, a long time resident of Florida & Marathon was in on the action catching big Pompano for dinner. Scott said, "it was awesome seeing three rods bent over at the same time, consistently bringing in fish for an hour, saying he had never seen anything like that!"

Captain Jim broke out his fly rod to land several Mackerel on the fly for some added excitement while out on several charters...

Now that's a big Amberjack!

June 28, 2011-

Graeme Lay of Orlando, Florida fought and landed this hefty Amber jack while on a fishing charter with Captain Jim Griffith of Angler Management Charters. After over an hour of reeling, he pulled the AJ off of one of the many wrecks located in Marathon, Florida. Graeme and company had a great time fishing and came home with plenty of fish to eat for dinner while visiting the Keys and also to take home with them to Orlando. His arms were still tired from fighting this Amberjack, but he managed to hold it up for a few photos back at the dock.

Offshore Tuna Fishing in Marathon Florida

Last week was very successful both offshore fishing for Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo and also on the wrecks and reef. We have enclosed a short note from one of Jim's customers last week, as it definitely sounds like they had a lot of fun fishing with Captain Jim on Angler Management Charters.

Las Vegas hits the Keys

January 24, 2011-

Tracey came to visit the Keys and all she could talk about was getting some fresh fish to fry for dinner... only problem was Captain Jim had to do the cooking along with the Captaining!

Tracey shook off the rust from her angling arm to reel in several nice Hogfish, some Porgies and Mangrove Snappers. She helped Jennifer pose for a picture with a nice 45 pound Amberjack that Jen caught out on one of Marathon's wrecks.

Everyone had a great time, out fishing & even better time eating up the fillets that Captain Jim fixed up for the group!

December 2010-

Matt took a break from his usual day Bartending at the Island Fish Company to take his friend, Ollie, of Germany out for a day fishing with Jim on Angler Management Charters. While it had been windy & cool for a while, they were able to catch up the fish while out on the ocean for the afternoon.

They brought back Hogfish, Mangrove Snapper, Mackerel, Grouper & Porgies, despite the part when Ollie lost a 20 inch plus Hogfish......
